The system of diffusion is controlled by a spring what supposes a relatively constant temperature to have a grease with stable consistency.

An anti-vibration system is obtained by a flat part on the screw what creates a hard point when the handle turns around thanks to the measuring rod under pressure in the handle. This flat part is visible in the drawing of right-hand side the right part of the screw. The contemporary model of Essex comprises this measuring rod but it is inserted in the handle. 

The flow is regulated thanks to a screw located in bottom of the greasing device. Its rotation decreases the opening of passage of grease by a system with guillotine.
